The Eliot at Troy

The Eliot is not just a home, we are a community like no other. Located in the cozy town of Troy, The Eliot sits on over 5 acres of beautiful lawns and gardens. Its location provides the feeling of peaceful country living while being only minutes from the restaurants and shopping in downtown Troy.

Resident Services

The Eliot is licensed by the New York State Department of Health and includes:

  • Assistance with activities of daily living (i.e. bathing, dressing, safety assurance, supervision, (and round the clock care if needed)
  • Healthcare services are provided by a licensed Home Care Services Agency.
  • Wellness Center featuring an On-site internist, psychologist, podiatrist, physical therapists
  • Medication management by trained Med Techs
  • Three nutritious home cooked meals shared in our spectacular dining room daily
  • Private Dining Room for a dynamic array of activities
  • A library, parlor, expansive country kitchens, & more!
  • A lifestyle that promotes independence and choice

We work hard to make sure that each of our residents feel at home when they come to The Eliot at Troy. We offer private and semi-private rooms:

  • Choice of numerous floor plans
  • Cozy and beautiful furniture

  • Individually controlled heating and air conditioning

New York’s Affordable Assisted Living Program

While our community is priced competitively, we understand that senior care can be a costly investment. Seniors often struggle to afford the quality of assistance they need and deserve.

We offer New York’s affordable Assisted Living Program, which is certified to provide Medicaid funded home care services, to provide seniors with the right support, delaying or preventing the need for admission to a nursing home. Whether just moving in or a longtime resident, we help our residents afford quality assistance upon meeting state requirements.

Administrator

What your role is and why it is significant to the company?
I am the Administrator.  My role is to be an advocate for the residents and to give the support to my staff as needed.

What you like about your specific role or about the company as a whole?
I love working for the Eliot because they truly do put the resident first and they are always trying to advocate for them.   I love being an Administrator because I get to work with all of the departments within the facility and be very hands on to help wherever needed!

A fun fact about you or something you do in your spare time?
I am an avid golfer, but with two kids ages three and one and a half, golf is certainly on the backburner.  I am also a Volunteer Fire Fighter with the West Glenville Fire Department.

Kristina Taylor
Admissions Director

What your role is and why it is significant to the company?
I am the activities/marketing Director. My job is significant to the company because i am responsible for ensuring that our residents are happy.

What you like about your specific role or about the company as a whole?
I like my role because it allows me to meet new people and help them in any way that i can.

A fun fact about you or something you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I love to travel with my husband and daughters

Who is your favorite superhero or cartoon character and why do you like him/her?
My favorite superhero is Wonder Woman, I like her because she represents strength and durability.

Monica Welling
Business Office Manager

What your role is and why it is significant to the company?
I am the office manager. I love learning new things and mastering them.

What you like about your specific role or about the company as a whole
I love working for the Eliot because the residents, they all have their own story and I can not wait to hear it and learn from them. I love helping them in every way possible.

A fun fact about you or something you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to cook and bake with my kids.

Miguel from the movie Coco, I like him because he has a big heart for everyone.

Endasia Pompey
Case Manager

What your role is and why it is significant to the company?
I am a Case Manager. I get to meet with the residents daily, and advocate for them and help.

What you like about your specific role or about the company as a whole?
I like my role as a Case Manager because it allows me to be compassionate with working with residents who are sometimes in dire situations or going through a difficult transition. I get to advocate for them through their situation and working with them in a positive way will help them make good forward strides

A fun fact about you or something you do in your spare time?
A fun fact about me, I Love spending time with my Son, family, and friends. I like trying new things, traveling, cooking, and Kick Boxing

Kirsten Preece
Case Manager

Where are you from?
I am from Charlton, New York.

How long have you been employed with us?
I have worked as a Case Manager for The Eliot at Troy since November of 2009.  I have been employed with the company for 9 ½ years

What is your educational background?
I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelors degree in Social Work with a minor in Family and Human Development.

What is your main focus here at The Eliot at Troy?
To continue to provide my residents with the resources needed to lead safe, successful and happy lives.

What are your hobbies?
My hobbies include being outdoors, traveling, horseback riding and cooking.

What do you enjoy doing on your down time?
I love spending time with my children and family.  One of my greatest blessings is being a mother to my three children. I also enjoy watching movies and reading.

What is your favorite movie?
One of my favorite movies is the Greatest Showman.  The music and messages in the film are inspiring!

What do you enjoy about your day while at work?
I truly enjoy that every day is different and challenging.  I love the experience of finding solutions to problems and linking our residents with resources to better their lives.

What is the best tip that you give to our residents?
To see the bright side of everyday and never loose hope in your abilities.

Resident Care Coordinator

What you like about your specific role or about the company as a whole?
I love my role as a resident Care Coordinator & liaison because it allows me to get to know my residents and ensure they get the care they need and deserve.

A fun fact about you or something you do in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my family, making jewelery, and hiking.

William Maxon
Maintenance Director

What your role is and why is it significant to the company?
Maintenance. Make sure building stays up and running, fix any issues within the building.

What you like about your specific role or about the company as a whole?
I like working at the Eliot at Troy, because of all the different things we get to do from working outside in the yard to hanging pictures for residents. It’s all about them and thats why i am here.

A fun fact about you or something you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love spending time with my amazing wife and beautiful kids. They are my whole world.

Who is your favorite superhero or cartoon character and why do you like him/her?
My favorite Superhero is The Flash and my favorite cartoon character is scooby-doo

Christopher Scirico
Director of Food Services

I went to school at SUNY Cobleskill with a degree in Culinary Arts and Minored in Business Administration.

What your role is and why is it significant to the company?
My role is Food Service Director. Leading the kitchen to ensure the residents are given delicious and healthy meals as well as being creative in the food we get to order and prepare has been the best part of the everyday duties.

What you like about your specific role or about the company as a whole?
I love working at The Eliot because I get to interact with the residents and really get to know them. The Eliot give us a chance to showcase our talents and provide quality meals. Working here has giving me a chance to grow personally as well as my career.

A fun fact about you or something you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to collect sports memorabilia. As an avid New York Mets fan, many of my items are past and present Mets players.

Gail Welling
Medication Supervisor

What your role is and why is it significant to the company?
Medical supervisor: lots of knowledge from nurses, doctors , and pharmacists

What you like about your specific role or about the company as a whole?
Our residents. helping them feel better

time with my family.

Who is your favorite superhero or cartoon character and why do you like him/her?
Poppy from Trolls. (thanks to granddaughters) something goos out of every situation.

Bonnie Ferguson, RN
Lead Nurse

Graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with an AAS/Nursing.

What your role is and why is it significant to the company?
My role at The Eliot at Troy is Lead Nurse. This role allows me to not only provide clinical services but to work with resident’s on a one to one basis and provide them with all the necessary services to remain healthy and maintain their independence.

What you like about your specific role or about the company as a whole?
I think my specific role at The Eliot allows me to use my clinical and managerial skills to help provide maximal services to our residents.

A fun fact about you or something you do in your spare time?
Favorite things to do are spending time with my family and seven grandchildren. Camping in the Adirondack’s with my new travel trailer. Favorite food is Cheeseburger’s and sweet potato fries. Secret dream is to be on Project Runway creating fashion.
