Elijah Rasnick

Executive Director

I am from/ currently reside in Livingston Manor, New York.

I have worked for the Eliot since March of 2010.

I graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 2007 with degrees in Anthropology and Sociology; I have been in this field for 10 years since completing my dissertation on “The role of informal social networks of the elderly in rural areas”.

My job description’s primary responsibility is to oversee the daily operation of the facility. I do this by working very closely with all of my residents and staff, being accessible to them, leading by example and teaching people how to interact and effectively communicate with one another to make our home a happy one.

My hobbies include camping, biking, hunting, fishing, and skiing.

My favorite beer is Devil’s Path IPA, which is made in my home town at Catskill Brewery.

My favorite movie is and always has been “Back to the Future.”

What I enjoy most about my job is connecting with people be it with residents or staff. I have always felt that my purpose in life is to bring people together and make them feel better, and my position affords me the opportunity to live that motto.

The best tip that I give to prospective residents and their families is to never equate Assisted Living with a loss of independence, but rather the liberation from worry and stress.

Rebecca Linscott

Director of Case Management

I live in Catskill, New York.

I have been working at The Eliot for the past year.

I graduated from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and have been in this field for over 20 years.

I assist residents to achieve and maintain optimum social, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being. I serve as a resource for residents and their families.

My hobbies include hunting, fishing, shooting, watching sports, and day trips with friends.

My favorite drink on the weekends is a refreshing Rumchata on the rocks.

My favorite movie is “Love & Basketball.”

What I most enjoy about my job is interacting with residents and their families.

The best tip that I give to prospective residents and their families is to ask a lot of questions and convey your expectations.

My focus is acting as a community liaison and intake.

My hobbies are baking and art

I enjoy wine or a Bloody Mary.

My favorite movie is “One Fine Day.”

I love my residents and the positive connections I make every day within our community.

The best tip that I give to prospective residents and families is that adjustment is a process we specialize in. It’s okay to be overwhelmed.

Linda Fishman

Recreation Director

I am from East Durham, New York.

I have worked for the Eliot for the past year.

I attended Trenton College and have been involved with the senior population for over 10 years .

My job description is to provide a diversified activity program for the residents of our facility, but I think of myself as the cruise director of our ship.

I enjoy gardening, I love history, and I’m a political junkie.

I don’t drink beer, I’m a total wine snob. My favorite is Pinotage.

My favorite movie is “The Quiet Man.”

My favorite part of my job is having the privilege of interacting with people with such remarkable histories.

My advice to prospective residents and families is to remember that the transition to assisted living is an adjustment, but don’t worry: We are unique community that gives support to each other when we need it most.
